Auto refresh while you wait for results, scores and announcements

Results days are stressful enough without clicking reload all morning. Let the page refresh itself, or get an alert when the announcement goes live.

Watching the page yourself

  1. Install the extension. Add Auto Refresh & Page Monitor to Chrome. Auto refresh is free and needs no account.
  2. Open the page and pick an interval. Click the extension icon, then choose a preset (5s, 15s, 30s, 1m, 5m or 10m) or set your own hours, minutes and seconds. On a busy results day, 30 to 60 seconds is kinder to the site than every few seconds.
  3. Press Start. The ring counts down to the next reload. Pause any time, and switch on Hard refresh to skip the browser cache on every reload.

Results sites tend to get swamped on the day, and a faster timer doesn't make the page appear sooner. Turn on Hard refresh so you never get stuck on an old, cached version of the page.

Or get an alert the moment it's published

When the date is vague, such as “results this week”, a monitor watches the page for you for up to 30 days.

  • “Tell me when the results are published on this page.”
  • “Let me know when this page shows a decision.”
  • “Alert me when the final score appears.”

It works on public pages. A page that needs your student or applicant login can't be monitored, so use auto refresh in your own browser for that one. Alerts always go to email, and you can add WhatsApp or Telegram.

Questions

How often should I refresh a results page?

Every 30 to 60 seconds on the day is enough. Faster won't make results appear sooner and can get you slowed down by a busy site.

Do live scores need a refresh at all?

Most live score pages update by themselves. Use a timer only for pages that don't.

Can a monitor check my application portal?

No. Portals that need your login can't be monitored. Auto refresh works in your own signed-in browser.

Can I get alerts on WhatsApp?

Yes. Alerts always go to email, and you can add WhatsApp, which costs a little extra per alert depending on your country, or Telegram.
